Welcome to the memorial page for

Mr. Alvin Vincent Chance

May 31, 1974 ~ May 15, 2017 (age 42) 42 Years Old
Alvin Vincent Chance departed this life on May 15, 2017 at his home in Springfield, Georgia. Alvin, who was affectionately known to some as Vint, Vince, Driver, and to many others as Champ, was born on May 31, 1974 to the late Alvin and Dr. Vivian Williams Chance.

He attended the public schools in Baxley, Georgia and graduated from Appling County Comprehensive High School in 1992. After High School Alvin attended Fort Valley State University and Armstrong University. Early in life, he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and was affiliated with Crusaders for Christ and Pentecostal Holiness Church.

On June 14, 2008, he was united in holy matrimony to Ida Hines. He was a dedicated husband who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was watching and attending college football games, especially Florida State University Seminoles "GO NOLES!"

Alvin spent many years as a professional truck driver. This profession afforded him the opportunity to travel across the United States. Later in life, he became a subcontractor with Infinite Possibilities Counseling Services where he served many at-risk youth. This job transition came as no surprise to many because Alvin "Champ" never failed to impart knowledge, encouragement, and reassurance to the younger generation and whomever had an ear to hear.

Alvin "Champ" was full of life. To know him or to be around him was to never know a dull moment. His enduring love and concern for others pushed him into an all familiar trail, blazed by his mother, of becoming a Licensed Insurance Agent for Primerica Financial Services. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Dr. Vivian W. Chance.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Ida Hines-Chance of Springfield, GA; a daughter, Miriam Daniels of Gulf Port, MS;

sisters: Regina Chance of Brunswick, GA, Crystal Chance of Wadesboro, NC, Kimberly (Ronald) Rozier, Erica ( James) White, both of Macon, GA, and Lestean McReed of Athens, GA;

brothers: Drew Kelly and Norman Kelly, both of Waynesboro, GA, and Derek Jackson of Savannah, GA;

Mother-in-law: Linda Gilbert of Cairo, GA;

uncles: John E. Williams, Arthur L. (Agnes) Williams, and Quinton (Gwendolyn) Roberson, all of Baxley, GA and Robert Jackson of New Jersey;

aunts: Velma Lewis, Dorothy Roberson, Annie D. Williams, and Valarie Ryan, all of Baxley, GA, Alice Frasier of Georgetown, SC, Ruby Wellmaker of Augusta, GA, Dorothy Kelly of Waycross, GA, Lula M. Daughtry of Midville, GA, Mae Carrie (Cleo) Wilkerson of Ocala, FL and Ruby Anthony of Swainsboro, GA. He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, cousins, and friends.
