Ruby Jean Jones

Ruby Jean Jones was born on August 3, 1948, to the late Ira and Ethel Thomas. She attended school in the Appling County School System.

 In 1966, Ruby welcomed her first child, Cleveland, and in 1972 married the love of her life, Julian (JJ) Jones Jr., gaining a daughter, Iris. They were later blessed with another daughter, Ayla, in 1988.

 Ruby worked as a housekeeper for the Appling County Health Care System until retiring in 2003. In her later years, she remained a kind, loving, and compassionate woman who enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her many grandchildren. 

Ruby passed away on the morning of April 15, 2026. 

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ireatha Sanders, Marietta Heard, and Louise Williams, and her brothers Benny Thomas, John Westley Thomas, Bett Thomas, Sam Thomas, and John Robert (J.R.) Thomas. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Julian, her children, Cleveland (Beth) Thomas, Iris (Fentress) McDuffie, and Ayla (Rodney) Sumner, and her sister Clyreatha (James Sr.) Smith, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.
