Horace Marseller Wooten departed this life peacefully at his home on October 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones whose presence brought comfort during his extended illness. He was born to the parentage of the late Reverend Levi and Beatrice Heard Wooten on May 22, 1963, in Appling County, Georgia.
At an early age he joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia. He served as a faithful member and choir member for several years. Horace was educated in the Appling County School System and received his high school diploma. Horace worked at Rayonier for more than thirty years, then continued with Interfor for eleven years after the merger.
He married Denise Frederick on October 28, 1989, and they remained happily together for 39 years. Horace served as a member of the Phantom Riders motorcycle club for eleven years. He took pleasure in preparing meals for his fellow club members and attending various annual bike club events.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Levi and Beatrice Heard Wooten; his son, Marseller Horace Wooten; two brothers, Bobby Wooten and Donald Wooten; and two brothers-in-law, Irvin Jones and Henry Newton. Horace leaves to mourn a devoted wife: Denise Wooten of Surrency, GA; son: Author Green of Surrency, GA; three brothers: Lonnie Wooten (Gwen), Lee Morris Wooten (Maureen) and Darren Wooten (Elaine), all of Baxley, GA; three sisters: Elaine Wooten, Patricia Wooten and Marsha Jones, all of Baxley, GA; two sisters-in-law: Wandy Frederick and Ruth Frederick, both of Hazlehurst, GA; six brothers-in-law: Bobby Frederick (Elaine) of Charlotte, NC, Mike Fredrick of Irvington, NJ, Eugene Frederick (Sandra) of Spartanburg, PA, Paul Frederick (Rebecca) of Augusta, GA, Gregory Frederick and Johnny Hall, both of Hazlehurst, GA. Loving memories will also be shared by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
