Shellie Eugene Cash, Sr. was born on July 2, 1929. At an early age, he married the late Margaret E. (James) Cash in 1948 and to this union were born eight children. After Margaret's untimely death, he married Lora E. (Crosby) Cash in 1964, which added two children to that union.
As a young man, he was ordained as a deacon under the late Rev. D.E. Kelley at Rachel Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health failed him. He was an upstanding citizen in the community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He joined the Baxley Police Department and dedicated 21 years of service. He was later deputized as the first black deputy with the Appling County Sheriff's Department.
He had a love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, talking with his friends on his CB Radio, fishing and hunting and was blessed with one more opportunity to go fishing two weeks before his passing.
God unveiled His master plan and called Shellie home on October 29, 2016.
